JUNIORS WEEKEND HIGHLIGHTS!
What an improvement we’ve seen in the boys — and I mean every single one of them. I never would have guessed, that I’d be watching a group go from being lucky to hit the ball consistently or bowl on the stumps for more than two balls in a row… to a team who can hold their wickets, bowl consistently on target and work as a unit.
That teamwork shows up everywhere — two batters communicating clearly on when and how to run, and a fielding side encouraging each other to keep the energy up even as 40 overs starts to take its toll. Even though I’ve called them up to standard pretty hard at times, I have to say I’m genuinely impressed by what this group of ~10-year-olds has achieved.
It’s been a journey, and as a first-time coach it’s been a learning curve for me too. Some things have improved incredibly quickly, while others have needed consistency and revisiting. Friday’s session with the Qld Cricket coach was genuinely inspiring in that respect — if anything, it made me a bit sad that the season is already over.
You all know that winning has never been my main focus — not because I don’t want the boys to win, but because I believe getting the fundamentals right and helping each player improve will bring results as a by-product, not as the goal. So finishing the season with two solid wins was a pretty clear signal that something was going right.
I’ll admit, when the Wilston North coach said, “we’ve won most of our games this season”, I had a brief moment of self-doubt as I was really hoping for the boys’ sake we’d finish with a win. As it turned out, I didn’t need to worry, although our runs still needed to be backed up with some serious wicket-taking.
As usual this second half of the season, we wanted to win the toss and bowl first to deal with the wet grass slowing the ball before it reached the boundary. And, as usual, we lost the toss — and they had the same idea.
Angus again led from the front with 27 off 18 — impressive. What stood out even more was his ability to adjust, taking on feedback to move from trying to spank the ball to swinging smoothly and cleanly — achieving the same outcome he wanted in his heart, but with more consistency. The rest of the team contributed solidly. Tom and Roland deserve a special mention for their 15 off 17 — which might look modest compared to some other game stats, but needs to be read in context (i.e. with wides and no-balls not being counted to batters in this game as they have been previously). We finished on 118 — not shabby, but definitely not unassailable. As has happened a fair bit in the second half of our season, it felt like wickets were going to decide this one.
And then came our turn in the field.
Patty led us out, making sure he wasn’t missing out on overs before taking the gloves for the second innings — and the team didn’t disappoint. A run out on ball four of his over, which went for just three runs in total. Then in the third over, Roland struck — another run out on the last ball, again only three runs conceded.
In the eighth over, Dhaksh joined the party — run out on the first ball, only two runs for the over. Roland followed up in the ninth with a clean bowled on the first ball, and then Dom in the tenth — followed by two run outs in the same over!
After the break, Gabe came in from keeping in the 11th and helped create another run out on ball four. Then another off Dhaksh in the 13th — a genuine team effort. Roland struck again in the 15th with a clean bowled, appealing with full passion to the umpire. I had to pause and say, “Mate… you’ve just taken middle stump — there’s nothing to ask me about. Get on with the celebration!” Another run out came in the 17th off a great Gus delivery, just as their stronger batters were starting to build — showing exactly why they’ve won most of their games this season. Gus followed with just three runs conceded, and Tom backed it up with another tight over.
It was a strong performance in the field. Special mention to Patty’s keeping in the second 10 — excellent — and to Dom, who (after a brief moment of frustration with a tough call) lifted again and drove the team’s energy with chants and encouragement to get us through those final overs as he has done so consistently across both the pre and post season.
What a group of lads. The improvement has been outstanding — across every single player. Some started with more experience (and yes, maybe a bit of brotherly influence), but every player has developed. If you’ve watched week after week — or even look back at the progressive numbers — you can see the story.
We’ve created runs through communication where others don’t. We’ve slumped and picked ourselves up. We’ve been on top and stayed sportsmanlike. And we’ve backed each other — in good moments and tough ones — again and again.
I can’t wait to see what next season brings.
Thank you all for your participation and commitment. A special shout out to Len and Matt — who have been as much coaches as I have — and to everyone who’s stepped up week after week with scoring, snacks, and everything else that keeps a team running.
Season Finale!
The U14 Comets took on The Lakes Knights Cricket Club (TLKCC) Red team in a one-day, away game for the final game of the season.
The Comets batted first with Leo and Ben opening the batting and from his very first ball, which he launched for a one-bounce 4, Leo made it clear that we were in for something special. Leo then proceeded to dispatch the Knights' bowlers to all parts of the ground with exceptional technique, timing and power. The most amazing part of his innings included a hat-trick of 6s in one over!!! When Leo was finally dismissed, he'd made 71 runs from just 28 balls, including ten 4s and four 6s!
The Comets batting innings also included quality contributions from Aaron (20), Ryker (35 N.O.) and Callum (20) to finish with a total of 8-218. A huge total from just 26 overs!
The Comets started their bowling innings in typical top-shelf fashion, when Ben fired in a throw to the ever reliable Callum at keeper, for a run-out in the second over with the score at 1-1. Ben's next over saw him snare two clean bowleds and the Comets had the Knights at 3-3. The Knights' batsmen battled on against the Comets quality bowling, pushing their score to 3-56, but then Captain Ryker brought himself on to bowl and cleaned bowled the batsman with his very first ball! The bowling from all of the Comets' bowlers was high quality and consistent, restricting runs and continuing to build pressure on the Knights and when Ben cleaned bowled another batsman in the 23rd over, the Knights were 5-67. Bowling well, but without luck, Beau was finally rewarded for all his hard work when Leo held a great catch, that went a mile into the air, leaving the Knights at 6-68!
The Comets (8-218) finished the game, defeating TLKCC (6-80). A great win by the boys, with all of them putting in a big effort, but special mention to Leo for his amazing 71 off just 28 balls!!!
It's been an outstanding effort by the U14 Comets this season, going undefeated for the entire 2025/26 competition and winning the Pre-Christmas Premiership! Disappointingly, the Comets had more rain-abandoned matches than other teams, which meant we weren't able to secure a result in three of the five games and finished third on the table.
Thanks to all the family and friends who have supported the team this season. The boys should be extremely proud of their efforts!
The rain looked threatening at times but it held off to allow a full second day play at Newport vs The Lakes. It was, however, extremely windy. Bowling from the northern end (which also had a bit of an uphill gradient!) was very tricky and required a few extra weet-bix today. This resulted in good ol’ S. Undries putting in a handy bonus for the Lakes (77 extras!).
Although the Lakes had some very competent batters, the Everton team showed great perseverance and a never-give-up attitude. Joe’s bowling started the fall of wickets with Alex taking a good catch, Sam got a great catch with the wind and sun in his face (off bowling by Harry) and Archer and Oscar both clean bowled opponents. Aviyan and Alex sent batters packing through run outs, and Harry ended up with a very impressive 2 wickets for 6 in 4 overs. Play of the day went to Oscar for his classy 2 wicket haul!
The Lakes surpassed our total to take the game, but the boys were just happy to get another chance to go ‘big bash’ in a brief 2nd batting innings. The next major challenge for the team is going to be removing the mud stains off these white pants…
Rained out............again!
After bowling Albany Creek out for 187 last week, the EDCC U14 Comets were in a commanding position and ready to chased down a win with the bat, but sadly the heavy rains during the week meant that day two of their home game on turf was abandoned.
That's three abandoned games in a row this season for the U14 Comets.
After being undefeated the past few matches (with thanks to, ahem, the rain more so than our performances), spirits were high for a win here at Newport vs The Lakes. The boys started strongly, with excellent play from both our openers, Oscar and Ben, who have shown great improvement over the season. Archer than came out firing with some fine shots and 6 boundaries. He was ably assisted by Harry, who faced a huge 53 balls, Alex and Aviyan. Unfortunately, we had to call it quits early when we were 8 wickets down as we had some teammates away this week. Even more unfortunately, Archer was stranded on an agonising 49!
Play of the day went to the whole team - Coach Stu says: “It was a huge shift from the legends today – superb team effort to post such a good total when two batters down!”
Top of the table clash!
The EDCC U14 Comets took on Albany Creek in a two day home game on turf. Albany Creek are currently in first place and EDCC in second, so it was set to be a cracker of a game.
Captain Quinn, won the toss and chose to bowl. Because of the recent rain affected games, this was going to be the Comets first chance to bowl in a match, since the first game of the season, so the boys were pumped and raring to go!
Ben and Charlie opened the bowling with both boys just missing the stumps or the edge of the bat on multiple occasions, but not able to take a wicket. Ben finally struck in the 7th over with a clean bowled, but it was a hard slog for he and Charlie, with little rewards for their quality bowling. Charlie and Ben finished their opening spell with Albany Creek 1-28 after 10 overs.
Leo was our first bowling change and struck with just his 2nd ball with an LBW, putting Albany Creek at 2-28 and it looked like the Comets were about to pounce and tear through the Albany Creek batting order, but the next 25 overs were a lesson for our boys in just how hard and unfair cricket can be. Ryker, Quinn, Thomas, Beau, Callum and Tirth all bowled well, but the Albany Creek batsmen were up for the challenge. Good balls were defended and bad balls were punished. Several dropped chances didn't help our cause and when Quinn finally took our next wicket from a great caught and bowled, Albany Creek had pushed their score out to 3-133.
The grind continued, with Aaron, Quinn, Christiaan, Charlie and Ben all bowling well, but not able to take wickets and Albany Creek adding to their total. When Ben finally bagged another clean bowled in the 43rd over Albany Creek were 4-164.
The boys came out after the final drinks break re-energised and their efforts finally paid off. Ben took another 3 quick wickets, including 2 in 2 balls and Ryker snared a cleaned bowled putting the pressure back onto the Albany Creek batsmen, resulting in them pushing for a dangerous run from a shot to mid-on. Ben charged in, picked up the ball cleanly and fired a rocket into the ever-reliable Callum at keeper, who had the bails off in a flash - run out! In 5 overs the Comets had taken 5 wickets for just 23 runs, with Albany Creek at 9-187. An amazing turnaround!
The final wicket was truly something to see. In what is being described as the reverse "Shane Warne ball of the century", Leo delivered a ball that was almost magic! Bowling to a right handed batsman, Leo drifted the ball to wide of off stump and the batsman pushed forward to defend it. The ball landed just before the bat and turned so far, that it ended up going behind the batsman's back to clip the leg bail - bowled!!! Like many on the field, the batsman couldn't believe what had happened. An amazing ball!!!
Congrats to the Comets on a great fightback to have Albany Creek all out for 187 and a special mention to Ben who finished with figures of 5-13 off 10 overs, including 5 maidens.
Hopefully the rain holds off and the Comets have a chance to get the win!
While the first two games didn’t go our way, there were still flashes of what we all know ‘could be’. And then, in our first real chance to honour our home field with the effort it deserves… things clicked.
The lads had been strategising (or at least the dads had anyway
No complaints though. The boys padded up with one clear focus: let’s go out there and have some fun doing our best.
Angus and Thomas set the tone beautifully — both scoring 27 off 24 balls, both clearing the boundary - which was particularly impressive once they stopped trying to hit the pants off everything and focused on just achieving ‘clean bat-on-ball’ (funny how sweet beats wild every time).
Roland matched the openers with 27 off 24 as well, and found the boundary three times. Dominic and Dhaksh both chipped in strongly too — with double digit 10 and 14 respectively.
But more than the runs, it was the wickets (or lack thereof!). Across 20 overs, the boys lost just three wickets. Three! A massive turnaround from the 15 we lost across the first two games. When you stop giving away penalty runs, you give yourself a real chance.
Then it was our turn with the ball.
At the break, Len summed it up simply: “Boys, if you go out there and take wickets… that’ll be the difference today.” And they responded exactly how we know they can.
Angus (2), Dhaksh (2), and Roland (1) all struck with the ball. And if LBW existed in our world, Dom and Tom would’ve had added at least five more — a couple of very confident appeals denied by rules constraint and, lets say, some enthusiastic footwork in front of the stumps
Across the board, the bowling was tight. Dhaksh delivered a maiden, and most overs from everyone else went for just three or four runs. That pressure builds. That pressure creates chances.
And then came the run-outs. Quick thinking. Sharp fielding. Clean throws. Good awareness. The kind of cricket that turns games. Tom deserves a special mention for that direct hit… as does Roland for keeping his head and throwing sweetly to the bowler instead of letting his excitement get the better of him and trying for the direct hit when someone was there to receive it.
Eight wickets in total. Thirty-two penalty runs gained. The boys were already ahead on runs — but the wickets were the real difference this time. And that difference favoured us massively.
Patrick and Gabe were missed — and we’re looking forward to having them back soon. They’ll slot straight into the positive attitude and momentum the boys showed on the weekend.
Only four games to go. And I already know how much I’m going to miss Saturday morning cricket.
Thanks to all the parents for the support on the weekend. And a big thank you to the boys for listening and responding to the coaching team. They leaned into having fun — and the result took care of itself.
Keep it up, boys. Keep the Fire burning. You’re making us proud.
A complete reversal from last week's batting saw the U11s achieve the milestone we have been working towards: no dismissals bowled for the duration. This, combined with no run-outs, enabled them to go about their innings' and score freely.
In U11s mistakes will undoubtedly be made. A couple of near misses with the running between wickets highlighted an impressive level of self-reflection and some respectful communication in the face of adversity was great to see.
Multiple retirees/red ink for the batters, with wickets shared throughout the bowlers. As always, exceptional in the field.
After a draw last week following a wet weather cancellation, the kids were keen to get back out on the pitch today for the first half of our game vs Albany Creek. The opening bowlers unsettled us early (we were 3 down in the second over), but among the panicked cries of “Everybody - just pad up now!”, Harry G kept his composure. He calmly hit boundaries like he’d been doing it for years and ran well between wickets, steading the ship with a very important 16 off 51. Harry’s efforts earned him the Play of the Day award, and after a boost by Alex and Aviyan, we finished with a respectable score in triple figures.
Albany Creek went in to bat and the boys put in a good effort in the field. Alex took a spectacular caught and bowled, and Sam moved well in the keeper position, keeping the pressure on the batters. Albany Creek will continue to bat next week in the second day of play. Archer's plan is to take 8 wickets in a row so we don’t have to field for too long. Everyone is on board with that.
Special thanks to Aviyan and Adhyan who kindly played up as super subs after we were 3 players down. Apologies to the U11 team for wearing them out before their main game!
The EDCC U14 Comets took on The Lakes Knights Cricket Club in a two day, away game.
The Knights won the toss and put Everton into bat and it was clear from the very first over, that the Knights had made the right call to bowl first. The lush, thick grass and morning dew created an incredibly slow outfield, meaning boundaries would be hard to come by and the EDCC batsmen were going to have to really earn their runs.
It was a real arm-wrestle of a game, with quality bowling and fielding from the Knights earning them wickets and the Comets batsmen playing well, but not getting full value for their shots due to the slow outfield. When multiple, powerful shots failed to reach the boundary, the EDCC batsmen soon realised that quick running between the wickets was the order of the day. Given how hot it was though, that meant it was going to be a tough ask for our boys.
The slow outfield and continued wicket taking by the Knights meant that the Comets run making was slow, but around halfway through our innings the scorching heat had finally started to dry out and quicken up the outfield and Ryker and Beau were our first batsmen to take advantage of it and accelerate the scoring. Ryker's innings was a mixture of delicate touch, controlled aggression and quality shot making. He made 39 from 40 balls including five 4s, before he was trapped LBW. When Ryker was dismissed he and Beau had pushed the score to 4-109 after 33 overs. The arm-wrestle continued with the Knights fighting back, slowing the Comets' run rate and taking steady wickets, while Beau kept the slow build of runs. Our first retiree Ben joined Beau at the crease with the score at 7-115 in the 36th over. Together, Beau and Ben lifted the scoring rate to more than 7 an over until Ben was caught for 41 in the 43rd over with the score at 8-162. Captain Leo was our next returning retiree and he added another quick-fire 12 including a big 6 before he was caught on 27.
As our final returning retiree, Aaron joined Beau at the crease and together, the boys staged a fantastic rear-guard partnership. Their innings was a combination of quick running between the wickets and powerful shots for boundaries. When Beau was finally caught on 33, they'd pushed the score to an impressive 10-215.
Our top performers with the bat were : Ben - 41, Ryker 39, Beau 33, Aaron 30 not-out and Leo 27.
Special mention to Beau for being the backbone of the latter part of our innings and for his new personal top score of 33, playing for EDCC!
Fingers crossed the rain stays away and the boys get a chance to defend their total next Saturday.
A repeat effort bordering spooky for the under 11s this week.
Yet again, ending the batting innings with 3 wickets in hand. A few of the new additions taking in what we covered at practice to reach retirement, with the majority of the team having reached that milestone within the first 2 weeks. Enthusiastic running between the wickets coupled with excellent communication between the batters throughout. And a great partnership at the end, picking up the pace to a run a ball.
Spending ever-so-slightly less time in the field this week (only 13 overs rather than 13.1) to bring about an early finish. Most bowlers only getting the opportunity to bowl 1 over, though this allowed for some pretty cool stats with the wickets shared around. Shout out to Adhyan (3/1 off of his sole over).
In our second post-Christmas match we were up against the Redcliffe Cyclones, who won the toss and decided to bat first. In a manner reminiscent of good ol’ Cyclone Alfred a year ago, their batting started off slowly with our bowlers keeping the run rate low and Regan taking two back to back wickets with catches from Luke and Ben. Luke caught another catch off a bowl from Alex but then the cyclones gathered steady momentum with well placed boundaries and soon everyone was securing their hats and bracing for an onslaught.
The runs kept coming while the wickets became further apart, although Harry (who finished with his first 2fa) and Sam (with a great catch from Oscar) collected another one each. But just before the Cyclones could hit 200, Archie single handedly turned the cyclone into a light breeze with two wickets in a row. There was a hush over the crowd as his next ball hit the batter on the pads right in front of the stumps. Every single Everton player turned and appealed in unison. The umpire considered this for what felt like about 5 minutes, but then the finger went up and the crowd went wild. Archer flew around the field aeroplane style as the team celebrated their first ever hat trick. The Cyclones were all out just before the overs expired but have set a high target of 231 for next week’s chase.
Check out the action shots of Archie's hat trick ball and the team celebrations!!!
Team-first attitude!
The U14 Comets took on Wilston Norths Aqua in a two day, home game on turf, on the main field.
Wilston Norths won the toss and put Everton into bat, which meant Ben and Thomas Fegan would be opening, but it wasn't the start the Comets were hoping for, when Thomas was run-out in the second over, without facing a ball. That brought Captain Leo to the crease, where he and Benno set about laying a platform for the innings. Both boys batted well, retiring not-out, having seen off the opening bowlers, with the score at 1-29. Aaron and Charlie were our next partnership and they continued the steady build of runs, with both boys retiring not-out, having pushed the total to 1-57. Beau and Callum then continued building the innings until Beau was caught for 2 in the 24th over with the score at 2-75. Tirth joined Callum and they put on another 11 runs before Callum was bowled for 9 and the score was 3-86. Christiaan and Tirth pushed the score to 104 through some aggressive batting from Tirth, making 19 from 21 balls (including three 4s), before he was well caught. Christiaan retired not-out and then Aviyan was bowled for 1, bringing our first retiree Ben back into bat with Thomas Haylock. When Thomas Haylock was bowled for 6, in the 37th over, the score was 6-125. Our next returning retiree was Leo who put on another 10 runs with Ben, before Leo was trapped LBW on 16.
At the final drinks break the score was 7-135, with Ben and Charlie batting together and 17 overs to go. At the current scoring rate, the total would be around the 200 mark. A respectable and defendable total, but not one that the Comets were completely happy with, so the decision was made to "put the foot down" and really go after the Wilston Norths' bowlers.
With a "team-first" mentality, not worried about their own personal scores, focused purely on making as many runs as quickly as they could for the total, Charlie and Ben absolutely "went to town"!!! It was an exceptional display of batting by both boys, filled with lightning fast running between the wickets, quality shots and massive boundaries. Ben reached his half-century with a blistering straight drive for 4, but not to be outdone, Charlie brought up his 50 with a monster 6!!!! Having just smashed a huge 6, with the overs running low and desperate to keep building the total, Charlie launched another huge hit to long-off, but was well caught, just inside the boundary for 51 off 66 balls, including eight 4s and a monster 6. Together Charlie and Ben had added 79 runs in just 11 overs!
Aaron joined Ben with the score at 8-213 and the boys continued the quick run-making. When Ben reached the 80s, the Comets all gathered on the boundary to cheer him on. He quickly reached the 90s and on 93, danced down the pitch and smashed the ball straight back over the bowler's head for 6. The next ball was full, on off stump and Ben punched it for a cover drive for a single, bringing up his maiden century. 100 from 87 balls, including fourteen 4s and two 6s. The Comets all cheered wildly from the boundary! It was an especially meaningful and significant innings for Ben, having been dismissed on 99 in the recent Winter Comp final. Having reached his 100, in a selfless and generous team-first gesture, Ben made the decision to retire, to give our final retiree Christiaan another bat.
Christiaan and Aaron saw out the final overs, both retiring not-out (Aaron 13, Christiaan 8) having moved the total to 8-269.
It was a great, team-first, inspired innings by the boys, giving them a huge chance for a win next week!
The first innings was a great segue from the school holidays couch to playing afternoon cricket, with the innings wrapped up just after drinks via some tight bowling and great enthusiasm in the field.
Moving forward, we'll be spending some time with fielding practice this week to work on our endurance and continuing to develop and extend on our base skills.
Both goals achieved for the day:
No run outs while batting
No cringeworthy chat in the field
Fifty for Aviyan, red ink for Adhyan and retirement for Bryson and Jack. A good spread of wickets, with Yash taking 2fa in one over and Syon with an individual run out.
Lakes won the toss and opted to send us in to bat first. The boys played some great defensive shots against good bowling, but it proved hard to get many runs on the board. Luckily, Archer came out firing with a quick 18 runs including 4 boundaries. Harrison scored a valuable 11 runs not out and stuck it out right to the end of the innings.
In the second half, Regan pulled off a play of the day performance. He took two wickets, including a catch off his own bowl that showed reflexes faster than a kid who’s been told he can have screentime. Joe, Theo, Alex and Sam also took wickets, but despite some good fielding the Lakes team came away with a convincing win. We had better snacks though.
Everton wins a nail-biter!!!!
The U14 Comets took on Valleys Gold for the first game of the 2026 season, in a one day, away game and it went right to the wire!
Valleys won the toss and put Everton into bat, which meant our ever reliable opening combo of Thomas "China" Fegan and Ben "Benno" Moore were up first and they started the 2026 season in typical fashion - both retiring not out (China 8 and Benno 33) having set a great platform for our innings. Coming in at number 3 was Leo "Da Vinch" Brumm and his innings was something to see! Vinch smashed the ball to all parts of the ground, including eight 4s and two monster 6s, finishing on 55 not-out from 27 balls! The Comets innings was looking fantastic. Captaining the team for the first time, Charlie "The Jet" Jeffs also played a quality innings for his 20 of 17 balls, which included three 4s and a big 6, but a Valley's bowling change was the start of their fightback. Their new bowlers' accuracy and pace, slowed the run-rate, building pressure on our batsmen and the wickets followed. Everton finished their innings 7-173.
The Comets came out to defend their total, pumped and ready to rip in! Jet and Benno opened the bowling with both of them just missing the stumps or edge of the bat on multiple occasions, but not able to take a wicket, but the pressure was well and truly on Valleys, with just 13 runs after six overs. Our first bowling change saw our first wicket, through beautiful outswing bowling from Aaron "Azza" Rony. Azza started the ball at leg stump, it swung out late, beat the bat and smashed into middle and off stump. An absolute peach of a ball!!! At the other end, Vinch and China brought the spin attack, containing the batsmen and building pressure, until China snared a clean bowled!
To their credit, the Valleys batsmen rallied and fought back, putting on steady runs until another bowling change saw Christiaan claim his first ever wicket for EDCC, with a beautiful clean bowled in the 19th over. But, with Valleys at 3-97, things were starting to get tight! When the new Valleys batting partnership put on 30 runs in just three overs, the Comets' chat and enthusiasm looked like it was starting to faulter and it was going to take something special to re-energize the team. In a truly inspiring "lead by example" moment, Charlie as captain, refused to give up and lifted his chat to a whole new level, telling (yelling) the boys that it wasn't over, they were still in the fight and all it would take is a wicket and then it happened........
The batsmen miscued a big hit off Aviyan's bowling and the ball flew high into the air, towards mid-on. With a determined call of "mine", Charlie sprinted flat-out from mid-off, covering over 20 meters, diving at full stretch, catching the ball one-handed, in his right hand and then safely transferring it to his left hand, as he slid along the ground. What a catch! The Comets and the crowd went nuts!!!! The Jet, yet again living up to his nickname to give Aviyan his first wicket for the U14 Comets and inspiring the whole team. With renewed enthusiasm, the Comets finished the innings with quality bowling from Benno, Jet, Vinch and China. China claimed a much deserved second wicket with a catch by Benno, just in from the boundary on the very last ball of the innings.
The Comets held their nerve to get the win. Everton 7-173, Valleys 5-162
