WINTER WAREHOUSE CRICKET

WINTER WAREHOUSE CRICKET

Don't let the pads gather dust, cricket doesn't stop when the temperature drops!

At Everton Districts Cricket Club, we are proud to continue our tradition of winter cricket. We field teams in the Warehouse Cricket Association competition, offering a fantastic way for players to stay active, sharpen their skills, and enjoy the social atmosphere of our club during the cooler months.

Whether you're a junior looking to keep your eye in or a senior player wanting a more relaxed but competitive game, there’s a spot for you in our winter squads.

Since 1921, the Warehouse Cricket Association has been a cornerstone of the Brisbane sporting community. It was originally founded for local "warehouse" workers and has grown into one of Australia's largest and most inclusive community cricket networks.

At Everton Districts, we love the Warehouse competition because it perfectly mirrors our club’s family-friendly values, it’s about the joy of the game, good sportsmanship, and staying active through the beautiful Brisbane winter.

COMPETITION OVERVIEW
PeterGallager-wicket#2

The Warehouse Cricket winter season is a staple of Brisbane cricket, known for its inclusive atmosphere and various formats. Matches are typically played at grounds across Brisbane’s Northside, often including our own picturesque fields at Chermside West.

  • Junior Competition: Weekly Saturday matches for ages U12 to U16 (1-day and 2-day formats).
  • Senior Saturday Competition: Weekly matches (1-day and 2-day formats).
  • Senior Sunday Competition: Fortnightly T20 or 50-over competitions.

Winter cricket in Brisbane is unique. While the rest of the country is packing away their gear, Warehouse Cricket takes advantage of our mild Queensland winters to play on some of the best surfaces in the state.

  • Format Variety: The competition is designed to be flexible. Saturday competitions often feature a mix of one-day (35 or 40 overs) and two-day (70 overs) matches, while Sunday options include fast-paced T20s and traditional 50-over games.
  • The Grounds: We play across the Greater Brisbane area, with many matches held at iconic hubs like Marchant Park (Chermside) and 7th Brigade Park (Geebung). These venues offer multiple pitches, creating a "festival of cricket" atmosphere every weekend.
  • Development Focus: For our juniors, the Warehouse winter season is a crucial bridge. The 70-over "two-day" format is particularly beneficial, as it gives young batters the time to "build an innings" and bowlers the chance to develop tactical spells, skills that are often rushed in shorter summer formats.
  • All Ability Levels: With dozens of divisions, Warehouse ensures we can place our Everton teams against opponents of a similar skill level, ensuring every game is competitive and fun.
GAME TIMES

The Warehouse competition is designed to fit into a busy family weekend, with consistent start times and locations primarily across Brisbane’s Northside.
